The term superfood has been used to distinguish those foods that are packed with a load of minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids in large amounts from the rest. This term has been misused by marketers whose aim is to reap undeserving benefits from the unsuspecting public. Superfoods are not necessarily expensive foods since some such as kale are easily found and are much affordable. Others include avocado, almonds, pomegranate, eggs, and broccoli. Antioxidants found in almonds are useful in preventing inflammation which in itself is a serious health problem that may even lead to cancer.
Pomegranate
The seed of pomegranate is the secret behind it being a superfood. They have polyphenols which are antioxidants that have the potency to prevent heart disease. It offers more good to the body than cranberry or green tea. To get the most out of the pomegranate, one can drink its juice, and it will guarantee an improved blood flow in the system as well as prevent atherosclerosis. Folate also found in this superfood prevents megaloblastic anemia.
Eggs
Eggs are real super foods with high amounts of proteins, minerals, and vitamins. A single egg could help a woman get as much as a third of her Vitamin K daily requirements.
Avocado
Avocado is a super food that contains good fat (monounsaturated fats). This helps in controlling cholesterol and diabetes. Eating avocado helps the gut to absorb other foods. This means that eating another super-food with avocado will be extremely beneficial.
